Statement Sleeves

Making a statement with big volume and layers create a bold, chic look for any occasion. The trick is to balance this exaggerated proportion by wearing fitted, simple bottoms whether it is pants, leggings or a skirt.  I paired this fantastic Shein Gingham blouse with my classic fitted bandage skirt and strappy sandals for a sunny day in Paris Vegas. This top is also great for holiday parties or a casual-chic day running errands.  I also love the unique slit neckline detail (tough to photograph, but is noticeable with movement). The biggest thing for me when purchasing new pieces, is how comfortable I feel wearing them.  I was pleasantly surprised with the material being a brushed cotton, it is cozy and moves well. After looking at several exaggerated sleeves, I gravitated

Fall Skincare

There is such a thing as changing your skin regimen seasonally. Like your wardrobe, as winter approaches it is very important to switch up your skincare to ensure you are taking care of your skin.  The cool/dry weather takes a toll on your skin (especially here in Calgary!) I have noticed my skin is more dry and itchy than previous years.  With my background in skincare and spending a lot of time in Europe, I know that using oils alone or in conjunction with lotions have great healing and therapeutic properties. I tried a few (low to high end) products and was not overly satisfied with the results or ingredients in many of them until I tried Lenity Soap.  I tried "Home Sweet Home" Body Oil from Lenity Soap, a Vegan Bath and Body company based out of Calgary (Canada). They specialize in 100% natural handmade Soaps, Oils and Epsom Soaks. I have been using 20 drops of the oil per day (ten in the a.m. and ten in the evening) directly on my skin after showering/shavin

The Bomber

I found a lot with floral patterns, which I wasn't crazy about. When I found this Camo sleeve bomber with a chrome zip from Shein   I knew it would be a perfect addition to my wardrobe.  This piece is reminiscent of one of my fave Prada menswear jackets from a few years ago that was unfortunately too big for me to wear . As this is a thinner, almost sweater like jacket, it is very versatile and easy to incorporate into several d

Feelin' Icy

I receive so many emails and messages asking how I keep my platinum/grey hair cool between salon visits. For the past two years I have been doing the icy grey/silver look, getting double highlights (full head of foils, looking like an alien while it processes) every 6 weeks, sometimes pushing it to 2 months if I am travelling abroad. I always get highlights instead of full bleaching, as my scalp is sensitive to colour and I prefer the beautiful dimensional colour that the highlights provide.  Blonde is a tricky process to keep it looking great with minimal damage to the hair, so it is important to try to stick with the same stylist who is familiar with the products and process they have been using. I always have my stylist give me a deep conditioning treatment after it is coloured. This helps to prevent damage when blowdrying, locking in nutrients and moisture.  It is great if you have time to go to your salon to have your hair toned every 2-3 weeks to keep it looking fresh, how

Black + Brass feat. Artifacts World Jewelry

details II Top: Alexander Wang  I  Skirt: Bcbg Maxazria  I  Shoes: Primark (UK)  I  Bag: Michael Kors  I  Sunnies: New Look (UK)  I Necklace: Artifacts World   Black and brass combined is edgy, elegant and modern. In both home and fashion it can really embody whatever style you want it to whether it's boho, contemporary or even asian flare. We are seeing the continuation of warm metallic detailing in clothing, home decor and accessories in creative forms.   This Brass "Flintoft Lariat" necklace by Canadian jewelry designer, Artifacts World is the perfect detail to finish off any fall look. The length of the necklace works well with several pieces of clothing and can easily be worn casually or dressed up. Although a Lariat style necklace is from a Western background (it resembles a rope lasso), this piece screams art deco to me. The flat brass chain and stone spheres  showcased at the centre of the necklace create  a

A sense of nostalgia came over me while walking down my old street in Yaletown.  After a stop at Urban Fare, Bella Gelateria and a walk along the Yaletown Seawall, I decided to relax and enjoy one of my top people watching spots.  The Vancouver Library is a place I've always enjoyed spending time. The curved steps are the perfect place to have a coffee, reflect on life and people watch. The inside of the building is just as cool, with natural light filling the promenade. The VPL was on my daily route to school, everyday I walked past it with the feeling I was walking European streets. The design itself resembles the Colosseum with it's massive round structure, steep steps and windows wrapping around

The Pearl of the Adriatic

Often referred to as "The Pearl of the Adriatic", Dubrovnik's maritime history goes back to pre-historic times, being the third largest Navy in the Mediterranean. It also holds strong Roman and Greek influences due to it's vast history.  Dubrovnik became part of Croatia after the first World War, and then part of Yugolosvia after WWII, finally becoming part of the Republic of Croatia in 1991.    Much of the city we see today was completed in the 13th century. Therefore, Limestone is the main material used for the columns, walls, churches and other buildings that make up most of Old City.  Many Game of Throne fans visit this gem due
