Bringing Nature Indoors
Photography by: Style Concept - Design by HDA and Style Concept
There are many creative inspirations that we inherently take from nature, such as finding originality in the natural colours, textures, and shapes that surround us, as these elements are routinely reflected in creative initiatives including design, fashion and architecture. Incorporating nature into your home, is all about finding which elements you have a connection with. Pieces that bring out personal emotions are key for establishing a relaxing and balanced environment. Natural elements like cotton, wood and leather can help establish your personal style and will help create a warm and welcoming ambience within your home.
This nature inspired project reflects on the home's natural surroundings, as the views from the large windows provide a great landscaping background which includes a variety of unique stone and tree collections, as these natural elements were implemented into our interior design selection process.
We chose a warm, muted green for the walls and complimentary levels of staining for the wood. Wood Floors and ceiling beams are sustainable elements that can simply be painted or re-stained to last for many years as cornerstone decorative elements within your home.
Wood furniture is also durable and timeless and can be found at locations such as Ten Thousand Villages, which have hand crafted furniture from artisans around the world that can be incorporated into any style of space.
One of my favourite features is this light fixture by Kichler Lighting. It's organic "Coral" design, in a brushed nickel finish, casts an abstract shadow on the vaulted ceiling and walls. We wanted to create a juxtaposition between the dark, rustic woods and the contemporary hardware and Brushed Nickel lighting.
It's always fun to find ways to create a cozy home through including naturally timeless elements in your home.
