The Modern Trench

Image
We shot this blog at the beautiful Memorial Park in Calgary. It is a great place to walk or bike at all hours of the day. The running water, trees and view of high rise building creates an interesting atmosphere. The Peace Bridge opened in 2012 for walking and bicycling over the Bow River. I love the vibrant colour and design by architect Santiago Calatrava.  This look is all about the Modern Trench coat. This trench coat is a modern twist on a classic coat dating back to the 1800's. This particular version has some of the classic elements mixed with modern elements. I love the classic elements including;  epaulets, self belt, storm flap and yoke on back, mixed with the contemporary leather sleeves, and zipper closures on sleeves, pockets etc. The versatility of wearing it open, or with the zipper done up is great for different weather or outfits underneath. This coat also comes in black on black, which would be my usual go-to, however, I like the contrast of the sand colour...

Country Chic

Image
A fresh transformation with a cozy feel - We created a rustic, country style Family Room that is both functional and stylish.  We love the original exposed brick fireplace surround, the textured brick adds to the rustic, country style we wanted to create. The painted panelling and the new flat ceiling create a larger, crisp feeling.  Beautiful Floral custom drapery panels frame the French patio doors.  Between the custom furniture and the new fireplace Hearth, there is ample seating. We designed this sofa to comfortably seat three,  two swivel chairs, the bowed hearth with cushions also creates seating for two. We designed the Ottoman with beautiful nailhead detailing to be used for several purposes. The custom swivel chairs are one of my favourite elements from this project. The flame stitched fabric is gorgeous and timeless. The rounded shape is comfortable to curl up in, with a swivel base that is great for entertaining. Another favourite from this project...

Weekend Casual - Lake Louise

Image
Lake Louise is filled with gorgeous scenery all year round. I went again last weekend to enjoy the fresh Spring air and green mountain views - and the best Mojitos! It was a low key trip filled with lots of eating, drinking and taking in our surroundings. The casual weekend called for casual attire. As the Spring weather is crisp and volatile,  I wore jeans, a leather jacket and a beanie to be comfortable in the changing temperatures. This great graphic T-Shirt came from my boyfriend. He found them fitting, as he is going to be moving to England in September for two years. The T-Shirt worked great with these Acid washed jeans, leather jacket, grey beanie, Aviator shades, and a pave pyramid double finger ring. I also brought these comfortable Ferragamo flats and my go-to bag for travel; my Medium Givenchy Antigona bag. It is very large, so it fits everything I need, and I love the shoulder strap and top handle combination.  I'm looking forward to going back when the lake...
